In preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, Cedars-Sinai, Department of Recreation and Parks, Discovery Cube, and Garmin created an initiative to inspire a healthier city. Compass is a community based event platform that utilizes the Rec and Parks resources to provide accessible events mainly focused around fitness, health, exploration, education, and beautification. Compass creates a meaningful experience of discovery for families in Los Angeles to participate in various new experiences with community and will become the city’s Community Pass.
Most of the time, low-income families have more family members in one family, especially several kids.
Some of them have multiple jobs in order to meet their daily expense need. That makes low-income parents even harder to have time with their kids.
Usually, their neighborhood is not safe. Also, the park and recreation center condition are relatively poor, which makes them even harder to exercise.
More and more low-income people are realizing the importance of better health and education. And they are passionate about giving their kids more opportunities.
